Senior Accountant – Denver, CO

The Senior Accountant position could develop into a future Assistant Controller opportunity after demonstrating performance.

Position Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries as part of the monthly financial close process
  • Ensure maintenance of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Ensure timeliness, accuracy and usefulness of monthly financial and management reporting to meet reporting requirements
  • Perform monthly variance analysis comparing actual results to financial plans, budgets and forecasts, working closely with operations and engineering groups
  • Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
  • Maintain responsibility for the monthly Joint Interest Billing (JIB) accounting
  • Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors

Critical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong technical accounting background
  • Experience with oil and gas specific accounting is preferable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and meet reporting deadlines in a fast-paced, growth environment
  • Ability to be a good collaborator and provide support to other accounting staff
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Aptitude for learning new systems

Qualifications:

  • B.S. or higher in Accounting
  • Accounting/Finance Experience: 2+ years

Salary and Benefits:

  • Salary negotiable based on experience; target salary range of $75,000-$85,000
